Artist Statement

Shaped by my travels through life in the company of intimacy, death and hope, my painting reflects my experiences as a woman and a voyager. Transparent watercolor is spontaneous and unforgiving. This is a direct metaphor for my own experiences with the evanescence of existence.

I apply paint directly to paper, without mixing beforehand. I allow the colors to mix on the wet paper. The watercolor paint separates into different areas as it dries, creating streams of color. From this running together of the paint, a multi-layered, emotional image appears.
